|I have been a busy little Prince.
It's been ages since I got some computer time. It's not that my human hogs it, it's just that we're so busy! She says it's the holidays, and that when she puts up The Tree, I'm not to mess with it.
... a tree, and I'm not to mess with it. I'm a DOG! I wonder what kind of tree it is, that a dog isn't to mess with it.
Anyway. Last week, my human went to see her family back east. Her parents are a bit leery of me coming to visit, so I stayed with my friend Jubilee and her humans. Jubilee is a beautiful Australian Shepherd mix with the prettiest black and brown brindle coat. We had the best time, even tho I missed my human terribly. Jubi's humans weren't a bad substitute, tho. I liked the small ones, especially the small girl human. She snuggled me in my blanket and rocked me to sleep every night. Almost as marvelous a life as I have with my
human, but not quite.
Now that my human has come home, things are quieter, of course. But today, we went to the dog park and lots
of my friends were there! Mackie arrived after we'd gone out into the meadow, and we could hear her barking clear over in the parking lot. Mackie and I have another Dachsie friend named Jasper. He is only four months old, and my human says he's a lucky dog; the breeder who had him at first was going to "put him down" because he has something called a "severe underbite". His humans don't seem to care about it, whatever it is. They dote on him as much as my human does with me. He's chocolate and tan like Mackie and he likes to wrestle with me!
We made another friend today at the park; he's a Corgi-Australian Shepherd mix named Mickey. He's only six months old and he loves
to play! We wrestled and chased each other while Mackie ran around us with her ball.
I like it when there's several small dogs at the park while I'm there; our humans usually talk together in a small group out in the center of the meadow while we race and play around them. Sometimes a big dog will run thru and introduce himself, but mostly the big dogs like to range further and out into the taller grass.
There was a terrier named Nico at the park today too; his human was elderly and walked with a cane. The human was a bit cranky because Nico didn't want to leave and wouldn't come to the car. My human ended up catching poor Nico. I think he just wanted to run and play some more.
As for me, it's time for a nap. I have just enough time before Perimeter Check before my human goes to bed, and I need it. These little legs have had a workout today!

|And they called it Puppy Looooooooooooooove!
I am in LOVE! My human took me to the dog park last night and I met the most beautiful chocolate and tan long-hair Dachsie named Mackie. Her birthday is just a week after mine; we'll both be a year old next month. She's just my size and she loves to run like I do! She's obsessed with her tennis ball, but that's OK, she can have it, as long as she'll play tag with me.
We chased and wrestled until it was too dark for our humans to see; it was so hard to say goodbye, but our humans picked us up and put us in the cars. I licked her nose as we said goodbye.
I hope I see her again on Friday when we go back to the park.

|I am human-tired. (Well, humans say "dog-tired", right?)
My human has decided to get in better shape. This means we go to the dog park and walk nearly every day now. I'm getting to know all the dogs there pretty well now. So many of them are big galumphing things, but today I got to meet Sammy, a Llasa Ahpso (sue me, I never learned to spell, really) who just rocked! We played tag in circles around our humans and Sammy's Yorkie sister. The Yorkie was a snappy-growly little thing, so I avoided her.
I got to play in the pond, too. My favorite thing about water is how it splashes, especially when I run up and down along the edge, full speed. I don't particularly like to go in deeper than belly-level, tho. Makes me sneeze.
There were some small humans there today, too, but they were too squealie, I didn't sit still for them to pet me.
All in all, it's been a good weekend; two days at the park and I got to sleep in the human bed both nights. (Altho, apparently my human thought I woke her too early today; when she took me downstairs, she mumbled something about five-thirty being an ungodly hour. It was starting to get light out! I ask you, is it unreasonable to want to play when it's light out?)
For now, I am very tired. I will curl up for a nap in my chair next to the computer while my human works. That way I'll be ready for the last perimeter patrol before she goes to bed.

|Today was Dog Park Day!
Usually my human takes me to the dog park on Mondays, but she couldn't this week, so we went today. We go to a place called Minto-Brown Island dog run
where LOTS of other dogs run and play.
I'm usually the smallest dog there, but whenever I feel intimidated, I get up on one of the rocks or the picnic table and bark "I'm a Big Dog!"
My buddy Rudy, another Dachshund, was there tonight. He's a smoothie, tho. And there were dozens of big dogs, I was a tad overwhelmed for a bit. This one Golden Retriever really wanted to play Tag with me, but he kept running over and stepping on me. You should have seen the feet on that big clumsy thing!
The Great Dane puppies were out tonight too, but they were just leaving when my human drove up. I saw them from my carseat.
Now that we're back, I am beat. I think I'll go take a nap so I will be able to stay awake all night and guard the condo.

|Puppy did a baaaaaaaaaad thing.
I am in the doghouse tonight, because I peed on the quilt my human's mother made for her.
No treats for me.
In other news, I got to chase three cats on our walk earlier tonight. I'm so proud! They all ran like the cowards they are. One even fled under the building and meowed pitifully as I barked at her.
Fear this little prince!

|Bark! Barkbark! Bark, I say!
Well. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a dog. Not just any
dog, mind you, but a purebred Dachshund, the best breed of canine on the planet.
I have quite a life, my human does spoil me quite a bit. But I deserve it! I protect our den, and warn her of evil cats in a five-block radius, and I keep the back of her knees warm at night. No one can say I don't deserve the treats and toys I get. No sirree!
I do wish she'd let me help with the laundry more. Every time I get hold of something particularly yummy-smelling, she takes it away. I like to keep trying, tho, because Tag is one of my favorite games ever.
Well, my human is calling for me like I'm lost or something, so I better go jump out and gnaw on her toes to let her know I'm alright.
